The Great Mosque of Xi'an is one of the oldest and most prominent mosques in the city. It was built in 742 AD during the reign of King Ming. The building of the mosque is characterized by its magnificent architecture that closely resembles traditional Chinese temples, a mixture of traditional Chinese architecture and Islamic art. In the Chinese style, the mosque includes beautiful and picturesque gardens, where in the outer court there is a wooden arch, and features covered tiles that can be traced back to the seventeenth century, and there are three rooms on either side of the arch, where some preserved furniture from the Ming and Qing dynasties are now displayed. While the fourth courtyard contains a large prayer hall that can accommodate more than a thousand people .
