In the heart of the old Turkish quarter, the Grand Mosque of Limassol is surrounded by palm trees that are almost as high as its minaret. The mosque is a popular destination for the remaining Turkish Cypriot residents of Lemesos and resident Muslims from the Middle East, and as with any mosque, visitors are required to dress modestly. The mosque was distinguished by its distinctive Islamic architectural design, with arched ceilings, towering minarets and decorations covering its walls.
