Gran Via Street, nicknamed the "Great Street", is an urban square in the center of Madrid, and leads from Alcala Street to the Plaza de España, also sometimes referred to as "Spanish Broadway". It is one of the most important shopping areas in the city, with a large number of Hotels, shops, and large cinemas, and many of these theaters have been replaced by shopping malls, and is a showcase of architecture from the early twentieth century.
