The Gorner Georg is one of Zermatt's most fascinating tourist attractions, and the landmark is easy to reach as it is a 20-minute walk from the southern tip of Zermatt. Scientists discovered this amazing feature 130 years ago, and it is a rocky gorge formed by the passage of a tributary of the Gornera River from the region over thousands of years. The strait is known for its unique rock formations, its magnificent waterfalls, and the green serpentine stone found in it, a stone formed more than 220 million years ago. Visitors will be able to reach the lowest point of the rocky gorge by descending a wooden staircase.
