Information about Giant Wild Goose Pagoda

It is an ancient Ludhiana temple located in the south of Xi'an. This towering Buddhist temple dates back to the seventh century, where the scriptures were built. It was built in 652 AD during the Tang Dynasty and was originally five floors. The structure was rebuilt in 704 AD in During the reign of Empress Wu Zitan, the building's exterior brick facade was renovated during the Ming Dynasty. One of the many functions of the pagoda was to carry the sutras and statues of Gautama Buddha brought to China from India by the seventh-century Buddhist monk, scholar, traveler and translator Xuanzang. The interior walls of the temple feature carved Buddhas by the famous artist Yan Liben.
