The German Maritime Museum, located in Bremerhaven, was opened on September 5, 1975 by then-President of Germany Walter Scheel. It is a unique museum located on the deck of an old naval ship dating back to the year 1380 AD that was found in the Wasser River in 1962, in addition to another group of small ships anchored on the harbor belonging to the museum, and the museum building and 8 other ships belonging to it were included within Protected heritage collections.
