Information about Georgian Gate Ali Ağa Mosque
The Georgian Gate Mosque Ali Ağa was built in 1608 AD by Zakarishi Ali Ağa, one of the leaders of the Janissary Corps who served in Erzurum. The mosque is also known as the Ali Agha Mosque. There is a small inscription documenting the date of the repair of the building, which was damaged in the earthquake of 1859 AD, on the base of the pointed arched door. The mosque is characterized by a different architectural configuration. The portico in front of the mosque is covered with three domes supported by four columns, and these domes are hidden from the outside with a conical roof. Made of fine stone, it has six windows at the bottom and four at the top.
