Information about Geological and mineralogical museum
The museum is located in the city center of Kiel. It dates back to 1848, but was rebuilt and renovated at the beginning of the eighteenth century after it was destroyed in the war. The museum was reopened in its current form within the western campus of Kiel University in 1970. The Geological Museum includes an anatomy department containing on more than 1,000 anatomical human specimens from joints, tendons and internal organs to the entire skeleton; which are used by students studying medicine or pharmacy for their own research. As for the metal section of the museum, it displays a selection of precious and valuable metals in order to familiarize visitors with them.
