Information about Gentpoort
One of the four remaining medieval city gates, the Ghent Gate is an entrance for foreigners and forms the border with the outside world for the inhabitants of Bruges. The gate was part of the city's defenses as well as a passage for the movement of production and goods. You will notice the statue in its place above the road and symbolizes Saint Adrian, who was believed to have protected the city in times of plague. The Ghent Gate is at its most beautiful in the evening hours when it is illuminated by charming golden lights .
