Information about Franciscan Monastery
The monastery was built in the fifteenth century, specifically in 1461, at the initiative of Bishop Thomas of Tomasini, the Apostolic envoy to Bosnia, with the permission of Pope Pius II. The monastery contains a bell tower dating back to the sixteenth century, and the monastery houses an exhibition containing a collection of paintings, including a selection of drawings by the artist Francesco Santacroce, in addition to many artifacts such as Greek and Roman coins. The monastery attracts visitors in particular because it is located in a picturesque natural area, and it also offers a charming panoramic view of the sea.
