The imposing Fort Saint-Andre is located on top of a rocky outcrop that rises 50 meters above the floodplain of the Rhone River. The construction of the fort began in the 12th century, and during the 13th century with the establishment of the Holy See in Avignon and then the founding of the Pope in 1356, the site became a real military fortress of length 750 meters with a curtain wall, carpets, towers, a prison, a guardhouse and a chapel.
