The people of Dubrovnik built this fortress in order to protect their country from anyone trying to reach the West Sea and the city, especially from the fleet of enemy countries. Construction began in 1018 and was completed in the 16th century. It is a wonderful place with high walls, overlooking the city and the sea at once, has antique cannon and viewing platforms and is a great place to take souvenir photos, especially in the evening.
