The 13th-century Maggiore Fountain is located in the center of Perugia's attractive main square, the 4th of November, and is one of the most beautiful fountains of the period, with bas-reliefs by stone sculptors Nicola and Giovanni Pisano. Its multi-sided basins of white and pink stone, and above it the trio of bronze nymphs, into which there is a urn from which water flows. This square has always been the political and social center of society.
