It is a volunteer run museum that aims to collect and preserve the rich history of the Oslo Fire Department. The museum is also located in the old fire station, which dates back to 1861 and was in normal use until 1978. The museum is operated on a voluntary basis with the support of the Oslo Fire and Rescue Agency.
