The desire to establish an art museum in La Coruña appeared at the end of the nineteenth century, although it was not established until 1922 AD, and it was not opened to the public until 1947 AD. The museum displays pieces of painting, sculpture, engraving, decorative arts and antiquities, and its pictorial collection preserves works from the 16th century to the present and important Galician artists are represented, whose works have been preserved in their original form to the present day.
