Information about Etruscan Museum Mario Guarnacci
The origins of the exhibits of this museum date back to 1761 when Monsignor Guarnaci publicly displayed his archaeological collection, a collection that took decades to collect. Upon Guarnaci’s death in 1785, the exhibits were donated to the benefit of the residents of Volterra, and then in 1877 they were moved to their present location. There are amazing exhibits in this museum from the period of the first century BC to the fourth century AD, as well as some classic exhibits from the eighteenth century. Among the exhibits, visitors will find statues, 600 beautifully preserved urns, ceramic paintings, masks and much more.
