Fort Estesac was built during the reign of Richelieu between 1633 and 1637 in order to counter the Spanish threat that prevailed on the coasts of Provence. Under the Empire, the lost part was rebuilt but on a square plan, the fort was included in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments, and now houses a gallery open to the public during the summer season.
