Designed by architect Tselmeg and sculptor Bold, the equestrian statue of Genghis Khan was opened in 2006 to celebrate the 88th anniversary of the Mongol Empire. This bronze monument, an extension of the House of Representatives, depicts Chinggis Khaan. The Great, seated on the throne, is located on a 45-step staircase, symbolizing sovereignty and the era in which the Mongolian nation was united. The columns on either side of the monument feature modern glass decoration, and are dedicated to the history of the Mongolian state.
