One of the landmarks worth seeing if you are a fan of large and monumental statues, this statue stands in honor of Joan Prem Prats, a Spanish soldier, politician and prime minister of Spain for a brief period of 6 months until his assassination. Best known for his leadership in the First Carlist War, he was chief of staff of the Captain General of Puerto Rico, and was known for siding with liberals against the authoritarian government. The monument is represented by Prim in military uniform, and the statue is located on a pedestal with scenes from his life appearing around him in reliefs including scenes of military exploits and the Battle of Castillejos.
