Information about Ellis Island
Ellis Island is a historic site that opened in 1892 as the first immigration station in America, and this site served for more than 60 years until it was closed in 1954. During his tenure the island received millions of immigrants, and it has been estimated that approximately 40 percent of the ancestors of all current American citizens came to America through Ellis Island. It is now one of the city's historical and tourist attractions, and an ideal place for anyone who wants to get a better understanding of the history of wonderful New York. And there is currently a museum that talks about the migration period, and the role of this migration station in attracting people to the country.
