The Elizabeth Bridge, named after the famous Queen of Habsburg, Elizabeth, was the only bridge that could not be reconstructed after World War II, so a new bridge was built to replace it as construction began in 1960 to be delivered in 1964. The current bridge structure connects the foot of a hill Gilert is in downtown Pest, and this bridge has the largest vehicular traffic of all the other bridges in the city.
