Information about Eibingen Abbey
Ebbingen Abbey is a community of Benedictine nuns in the city of Rüdesheim am Rhein. The monastery was established in 1165 by the monk, philosopher and writer Hildegard, and the monastery continued to function for more than 8 centuries and then was suspended in the year 1804, but it returned to work again in 1904 After the city's municipality renovated the buildings and added new ones. The nuns produce handicrafts and sell them in local markets, and they can often be heard singing Bible songs. This amazing monastery is considered a protected World Heritage Site.
