Information about Eagle Square
It is considered one of the most important tourist attractions in Langkawi in particular and in Malaysia in general. Langkawi is named after this statue, which takes the form of a huge eagle preparing to fly, about 12 meters tall. This statue is a symbol of the island of Langkawi. The word Kawi means eagle in the ancient Malay language. The park that embraces this field extends over an area of up to 15 acres. The scenery in which the square is located is really picturesque, as behind the statue there is a wonderful mountainous background, and in front of it there is the sea, where you can watch the ships and ferries sailing in it. You can visit the place at any time, as it is not closed all hours of the day, but it is preferable to visit during the early hours of the morning or a little before sunset so that the high temperatures do not spoil the enjoyment of the picnic.
