Information about Dzibilchaltún
Dzibilchaltún is an archaeological site that was formerly a settlement in the sixteenth century AD. Scholars estimate that there were about 8,400 buildings with many artifacts from the mid-classical period. The Great Square, the Paths of the Sack, the Temple of the Dolls, and the Open Square are among its most notable monuments. The site is also famous for the rising of the sun through the entrance to the Seven Doll Temple at the vernal equinox. At this archaeological site there is a "Cenote Xlacah" that is 100 meters long and 45 meters wide, and this watercourse in which pots, carved bones and wooden objects were found, contributed to providing valuable information about the ancient Mayans who lived in the area.
