DuSable Museum of African American History is the country's first independent museum dedicated to collecting, preserving, and studying the history and culture of Africans and African Americans. It was established in 1961, and since that time it attracts thousands of tourists annually who come to enjoy its exhibitions, concerts, children's events, literary discussions and other programs.
