The Dongdaemun Shopping Complex was opened in 1970 and is the largest single market in Asia, as well as one of the oldest with more than 40 years of history. In 1985, the Dongdaemun Shopping City was added to the complex for a total of four buildings entirely. Many wholesale and retail stores specialize in various fabrics, materials, accessories and bridal products, and up to eighty percent of all fabrics traded in Korea pass through here, allowing the goods to be sold at reasonable prices.
