Information about Dervish House
Dervish House or House of Dervishes is a stunning religious complex built in the year 1200 and is considered one of the most important landmarks in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The building was built to host Sufi brotherhood congregations, and was also for a long time an educational complex. The municipality of Mostar converted it into a cathedral in 1848. It is one of the most magnificent monasteries in the world, with majestic towers, baroque ceilings, amazing statues, and a majestic Turkish bath, so it has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. This beautiful place, about 15 kilometers outside of Mostar, is located at the base of the cave where the Buna river springs. The water is so pure that people drink it straight from the river.
