Information about Dana Island

Despite being a small island located two kilometers from the southern coast of Turkey, Dana Island offers a rich history that is likely to shed light on the dark ages. This island was considered one of the largest shipyards in ancient times. Historical sources indicate that the island's name may stem from Yadana, Yadana or Adana, which was mentioned in an Assyrian tablet from the eighth century BC, as an island in the vicinity of Cyprus. There is archaeological evidence showing that the island of Dana played an important role in the marine navigation activities in the Levant, starting from the Neolithic era. In addition to being used as the largest shipyard, it is also a military naval base in the eastern Mediterranean, and a three-dimensional model of the island was made. Using photogrammetry and computer graphics methods, simulations were carried out to verify hypotheses regarding the involvement of Dana Island in the great naval battles of antiquity.
