One of the largest and oldest theaters in the city of Debrecen is the Chokonay Theater. It was named after one of the early modern Hungarian writers, Mihaly Chosokunay; It is also considered one of the finest theaters in Hungary. This theater dates back to the nineteenth century AD, and consists of three levels with a romantic architectural style, gilded balconies, huge wall entrances, and magnificent chandeliers. This theater hosts many shows, concerts, dance parties, tragedies and operas.
