Information about Croatian Maritime Museum
The Croatian Maritime Museum was established by the Split City Council in 1997. Its rich historical contents were collected from the Split Maritime Museum, the Military Naval Museum and many related archaeological collections, including marine archaeological discoveries. Research, manuscripts, artifacts and documents relating to maritime heritage date back to the Adriatic maritime heritage from prehistoric to modern times. An exhibition dedicated to Maritime Warcraft celebrates the battles that took place in the Adriatic from classical times to the end of the 20th century. Among the models on display are the Liberian Liberia, the Roman Perma, the pirate ship Omis, and the Hvar "St. Jerome" from the 1571 Battle of Lepanto.
