Information about Convento Santa Catalina
The Dominican convent of Santa Catalina de Siena was first opened in 1611 in the house of Los Adelantados. It features a series of exquisite Baroque panels such as those above the main chapel and the Virgen del Tranisto, along with an ornate silver niche. The most distinctive feature of the church is the presence of a statue representing Santa Rosa de Lima by Rodríguez de la Oliva, and the nun opens her doors to the faithful to visit the incorrect body of the servant of God, Sister Maria de Jesus de Leon Delgado (1643-1731).
