The Commonwealth War Cemetery is characterized by the beauty of nature, where the green spaces are very wide, full of trees and lush green plants. The cemetery receives great care and attention, as it enjoys continuous maintenance and permanent cleanliness, as it was considered in the past a naval cemetery for the soldiers and sea merchants of the city of Trincomalee, which later became a cemetery dedicated to war soldiers only. It also contains a memorial to a marine who was buried in Trincomalee Cemetery and was not found when it was moved to the Commonwealth War Cemetery.
