Clifton National Heritage Park was established to preserve the historical and cultural legacy of the three human groups that had a significant impact on the country: the Locans (the indigenous people of the Bahamas before European colonization), the Loyalists, and the Africans (who were brought by Europeans as slaves to the Bahamas). The park opened its doors in 2009, and visitors will find beaches, ancient buildings, rare types of plants and trees, and dozens of species of animals, fish and birds.
