The most central park within the city's public parks, it is a haven filled with herbs, trees, flowers, and lakes. It is a large garden that was first designed in 1845, but was not completed until 1860. Over 30,000 trees and plants were brought from the Romanian mountains, while exotic plants were brought from the Vienna Botanical Gardens. The highlight of the 17-hectare park is the Roman Garden built in the style of ancient Rome, which includes statues of the most famous Roman writers, as well as the lake, which can be explored by rowing boat in the summer or ice skating during the winter, the Ion Monument (Ion) French Memorial. The park has a number of cafes and refreshment kiosks, as well as some large and good children's playgrounds.
