The Chapel of São Miguel de Castillo was built in the 13th century. Its Romanesque building and small dimensions reflect great simplicity in terms of decoration. Inside, the great warriors of the founding nation were buried underground. The church was severely dilapidated during the early 19th century. It was later restored in 1874 and 1940, and in 1910 it was designated a National Monument.
