The church of Santo Antonio dos Olivais dates back to the thirteenth century when Queen Urraca, wife of King Alfonso II, presented to the Franciscan monks who arrived in Portugal a monastery dedicated to Saint Anthony the Great. The eighteenth century, and at the top of the central arch there is a niche containing the image of St. Anthony. Inside, the church has walls clad with blue and white tiles from the eighteenth century, with scenes alluding to the life of St. Anthony.
