A small Catholic church dating back to the 11th century, was completely restored and renovated in 1715 after earthquake damage, and was restored again in the 1990s. The church is named after John the Apostle and "El Toro", the former name of the old aristocratic quarter in which it was built. The church is famous for its old pulpit, which dates back to around the thirteenth century. The minbar is distinguished by the various decorative patterns that adorn it, to the preserved mosaic and frescoes depicting scenes from the life of Christ.
