The origins of the Church of Our Lady of Consolation and Santos Passos go back to a chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary that was built in the historic city center in March 1576, and in October 1785, the new church was completed, an outstanding example of Baroque architecture in Guimarães, endowed with two towers, a staircase and a balustrade. Today it is one of the main churches in Guimarães and attracts many visitors interested in history and Baroque architecture.
