The Basilica of Our Lady was founded in 1476 and is built in the Portuguese Gothic style after the Batalha Monastery, and as with many churches in the West (a tourist area in Portugal) it was destroyed in the earthquake of 1755, and was restored in the construction work that continued throughout the eighteenth century Until the nineteenth century, including the altar, which is made of walnut wood. The features and characteristics that survived the earthquake with the new additions of this church made it of great historical significance and formed a real mix of different architectural styles.
