Dedicated to the patriotic Korean fighters who died resisting Japanese aggressors during the Japanese invasion of Korea (1592-1598), Cheongnyulsa Shrine was built in 1605 (the 38th year of King Seonju's reign) at the south gate of Dongnae Castle by order of the Dongnae ruler; Yun Hwon, in memory of Governor Song Sang-hyeon, and in 1709, an additional shrine was built on the site in memory of those who died with this ruler.
