Choupal National Forest is located a short distance from downtown Coimbra, and extends along the Mondego River, and contains many jogging, walking, cycling and horseback riding trails. In the 19th century, many other trees grew in the area, including sycamore, beech, laurel and eucalyptus, and today it is a popular destination for recreation, exercise and picnics.
