The Cholon Mosque stands out in sharp contrast to the ornamentation and liveliness of the neighboring temples in Chinatown. It has a simple blue and white building, an ablution basin in the courtyard and a tiled mihrab in the prayer hall wall to indicate the direction of Mecca. It was built in 1935 by southern Muslims India, exuding an aura of serenity, provides an interesting insight into the Islamic culture of Vietnam.
