The archaeological site of Chemtou, which is considered the largest marble quarry in ancient North Africa and the home of the civilization of the Numidian kingdom, is located in the northwest of the country. It is one of the attractions that attracts a good number of tourists every year. Throughout the Roman world because of its great similarity with gold, and today it houses a museum dedicated to documenting the history of Chemto, with clothes from the northwest, jewelry and collectibles that illustrate the lifestyle in Bedouin tents, funerary monuments, the ancient Numidian facade, dazzling marble pieces and a beautiful mosaic floor representing the four seasons and some of the exhibits that It illustrates the technology used in quarrying and transporting marble, in addition to the large theater that can accommodate 200 people, and the Roman mills and water turbines located outside.
