Information about Chiesa di S. Francesco
Dating back to the year 1316, St. Francisco Church is one of the oldest buildings in the city and a place visited by tens of thousands of tourists and locals every year. The church was restored in 1583 and a basilica facade was added to it in the Roman style, and an inscription in the rock containing the symbols of the inhabitants of the town of Locarno at that time. The symbol of the eagle represented the nobles, the symbol of the cow represented the bourgeoisie, and the symbol of lamb represented the landowners. The interior of the church has majestic Gothic decorations, so do not miss the opportunity to visit it!
