Information about Chennai Rail Museum
The Chennai Railway Museum was opened in 2002 and since then it is a prominent destination for tourists in the city. It is a spacious 6.25-acre museum that contains many art and heritage exhibitions. The exhibits in the museum include 41 trains distributed in the outside garden of the museum. Two floors dating back to the sixties of the nineteenth century, and the most distinguished section in the museum is the exhibition of steam engines. It contains a model of a steam plow engine manufactured by John Fowler, along with many models of Indian railways and some models also manufactured in other countries such as Sri Lanka, the Philippines and Vietnam and Zambia.
