Located in the heart of Seoul, Changyeong Palace was originally built as Seogang Palace by order of the fourth ruler of the Joseon Dynasty King Sejong for his retired father, King Taejong, and often served as residential quarters for queens. During the reign of King Seongjong, the palace was renovated and renamed Changgyeong Palace. It was later attached to a public garden, zoo and botanical garden during Japanese colonial rule, and compared to other palaces, the size of this palace is small and simple.
