Information about Center of Contemporary Art at Petrovic Palace
The Center for Modern Art was established in 1995 through the amalgamation of two institutions of culture: the National Cultural Center and the "Josip Broz Tito" Gallery. It is a building that was built in the late nineteenth century. The central building of the complex is the residence of Duke Mirko Petrović Njegoš, better known as Petrović Palace. The exhibition's permanent display includes about 1,000 items from 60 countries of the world, from Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America, as well as a group of Yugoslav and Montenegro (Montenegro) artists. The oldest items date from the 7th century BC and the most recent from the last decades of the 20th century. Apart from works of fine art, there are also works of applied arts and ethnography, as well as a diverse collection for display.
