Located in the heart of the medieval quarter of Nantes, the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany is a large castle that served as the center of the historic province of Brittany until its secession in 1956. It was the residence of the Dukes of Brittany between the thirteenth and sixteenth centuries, and later became the Breton residence of the Order Royal French, it has been listed as a historical monument by the French Ministry of Culture since 1840, and today it is home to the Nantes Historical Museum.
