The name Castelo de Quejo beach translates to "Cheese Castle Beach", and this name actually comes from the fortress of St. Francis Javier, which overlooks the beach. The fort is said to be built on a rock that resembles a huge piece of cheese. The beach itself is a short stretch of sand and rocks, and although not as popular as nearby Matasinhos Beach, it can still get crowded during the summer months.
