It is a fortress located at the entrance to the old port, where it was built to protect the pier and the port. The castle took its current form between 152 AD and 1540 AD, after the old building was destroyed by the earthquake. The castle is being constantly restored due to the strong waves that cause destruction to the castle stones. The castle consists of two floors, where the ground floor was used as a storehouse for foodstuffs and ammunition, and has 26 rooms. Now the castle is open to visitors and is also used for art exhibitions and various cultural activities.
